Baptism

An outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus.

Baptism at Epic Church

WHAT IS BAPTISM?
We believe at Epic that baptism is going public with your faith in Jesus. Baptism spans over history and is found many times in the Bible. Water is used in baptism as a symbol that represents the washing away of our old life apart from Jesus, and the renewing of our new life with Jesus.

WHO SHOULD BE BAPTIZED?
Any person that has decided to put their faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a next step after deciding to follow Jesus. (Acts 2:37-41)

DO I NEED TO BE BAPTIZED AGAIN?
Epic Church believes that baptism is a personal decision made after salvation. While many people were baptized as babies, this was not their own decision, and Epic Church encourages people to be baptized once again since their faith is now their own. If you have never been baptized by immersion after salvation or for those of you unsure about a previous baptism experience, we would love to talk to you about how to take your next step. (John 3:3-5)

WHY DOES EPIC CHURCH BAPTIZE BY IMMERSION?
We believe Jesus was baptized by immersion. The Greek word baptizo literally means "to immerse." The momentary immersion into the water symbolizes our death and burial of our old life. Being brought back up out of the water symbolizes our clean and new life in Christ. (Romans 6:1-10).

HOW IS MY STORY RELATED TO BAPTISM?
Epic Church is passionate about people’s stories. We believe these stories have power and we love to celebrate what God has done and is continuing to do in people’s lives. Your baptism is an amazing opportunity to reflect on what Jesus has done in your life and to encourage others on this journey. Every person’s story, whether you believe it or not, has the power to change lives and help people see the grace and truth of Jesus. Here at Epic, we can help you tell your story to begin to impact the world around you.
